Hi Broni.  Sorry it took so long to get back, but it was bedtime in this neck of the woods last night and I was a tired puppy.

      Yes, I'm running Windows firewall.

Used your link and d/loaded new HJT.  Log is attached.

      Nothing unusual.
You need to update your Java, though: http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp
Uninstall any older version through Control Panel.

We're gonna try one more thing...
      Go Start, type in:
      regedit
      Hit Enter.
      Registry Editor will open.
      Navigate to:
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MenuOrder
Right click on MenuOrder, click Export, and save it to known location. Don't loose it!
Right click on MenuOrder, click Delete.
      Close Registry Editor.
Restart computer, and pray for Start menu being in alphabetical order.

Our prayers weren't answered Broni, but we're giving it our best shot.  I DO have a .357 Smith & Wesson for it tho.  lol

OK. Since it didn't work, find that registry file, you just saved, and double click on it. Agree to Merge.
        It'll go back to registry.

This is really puzzling, but this is what I like...hehehehe.

Can you get me a screenshot of your Start>All Programs list?

Yeh, I know what u mean Broni.  I like to solve 'em if I can.  Methinks I might b able to learn something for later use on others' pc's.

Very new to Vista so I have no idea how to screenshot with it, and I don't have my screenshot prog on this one yet.  Still on my old XP and not sure if it'll work on Vista anyway.  Oldie, but a goodie for XP.

Did you restore that registry key?

For screen capture, get free ScreeHunter: http://wisdom-soft.com/products/screenhunter_free.htm
          Very easy to use.

Yup Broni, restored the registry key already.  There was a bit of a learning curve on the Screenhunter, but I think I got 'er done.  Pretty neat program--have to play with it some more later.

            Get out of here, silly!!!
            Don't waste my time....LOOOOOOOOOOOL
            You have everything in order.
All programs, up to "Windows Update" are listed alphabetically, and then you have FOLDERS, also listed alphabetically.

Duhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Man, do I feel stupid.  Didn't realize that Vista put folders last--I just assumed it would arrange them like my XP--folders and progs there r arranged in order from top to bottom.

So very sorry that I kept u scratchin' yer head.  My mistake all along.  LOL  But I learned a lot from u Broni, and thanks for hangin' in there for me.  I don't care WHAT they say about ya when u're not around, u're OK in my book.  Feel like a complete idiot.

I'm not sure how to mark this long thread "SOLVED"--and not sure if I even WANT to cuz I sure feel like I got mush for brains now.  lol
