Can a floppy disk be ejected from DOS?
« on: January 05, 2005, 10:05:23 AM »
Hi,

I need to run Partition Magic in an old laptop with Windows 98.   I have problems to physically remove floppy disks from the drive.  I have been able to remove them only  from Windows using the "eject" command (when right clicking on the floppy drive).   Partition Magic is run from DOS, isn't it?  How can I eject the floppy from DOS?

Thanks
Daniel

Never saw "eject" command for a floppy disk.  For CD's and other removable media, yes.  What kind of floppy disk do you have?  What is make and model of laptop?

Laptop is Winbook XL2.  From Winbook's website I can get some of the specs: Pentium II, 128MB of RAM, 300MHz.   For the floppy drive: 120MB SuperDisk Diskettes or 3.5" 1.44MB Floppy Disks (which doesn't say much, does it?  I can try to get more infor about the drive tonight, with the Winbook with me).

specs are in http://www.winbookcorp.com/support/xl2/xl2specs.htm

Thanks

I know what a LS120 SuperDrive is.  There's even a help page on this website:  http://www.computerhope.com/help/super.htm

I printed the info in the link you sent and will give it a try tonight.   I had no idea that it was a special drive!     Thanks much!

I just tried ejecting the drive with the paper clip (as suggested in the instructions) and it works.   Thanks very much.
