Multiple launch of software with single mouse click
« on: January 29, 2008, 12:46:33 PM »
My computer has recently developed a very strange problem (it is a 3 year old HP).  When it is first turned on, or activated from stand-by mode, a single click on an icon (usually outlook or internet explorer) launches that piece of software 30, 40, or 50 times before I can stop it--usually by hitting escape or end.  This has just started.  I ran a virus scan and nothing showed up, and I am at a loss.
Any helpful ideas would be appreciated on how to fix this problem.

What kind of mouse are you using (make, model, USB, PS/2 or wireless)?  Does it have a software suite associated with it?  Have you tried a different mouse?
Why is this thus?  What is the reason for this thusness?
