BOOT DISKS
« on: January 08, 2005, 10:40:22 AM »
I CANNOT MAKE A BOOT DISK ON MY COMPUTER. I DOWNLOADED THE FILE FROM MICROSOFT FOR THE BOOT DISKS FOR WINDOWS XP BUT WHEN I TRY TO OPEN IT I GET THE MESSAGE "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. THE SYSTEM FILE IS NOT SUITABLE FOR RUNNING MS-DOS AND MICROSOFT WINDOWS APPLICATIONS." WHAT DOES THIS MEAN OTHER THAN I AM IGNORANT?

    UKFAN8......When you say you want a boot disk for Win XP ....exactly what is it your trying to do ? If you have formatted your hard drive and you wish a boot disk to allow you to reload Windows ......Go to bootdisks.com and download a win98 boot disk ......It will have the necessary drivers , MS dos files to get you going......As I mentioned the d/l will contain the Format , Fdisk , and several cd drivers  and it will fit on a 3.25 floppy disk.

    let us know

    If you don't know the answer, it isn't a dumb question.
