No malware installed

I ommited Mcafee and now have no malware running I tried AVG (free) after running all night (8 Hours) It would not install, My computer is running extremely slow I ran a scan with Netcom3 422 problems Now when i turn on the computer the netcom3 scan ad appears I recyled the icon I have an Acer running Windows Vista How can I clean out this machine?

AVG is a very good antivirus program. If you can't install it, it may be due to serious infection.
