I purchased A wireless  router so that I can share my internet connection with another computer in my home. When attempting to connect the cables I was instructed to unplug my computer from the modem and plug it into the router, however the plug comeing from my computer is usb type and the router needs RJ45 ethernet type. What do I need to do?

Do your modem have a RJ45 Ethernet plug? If it does you need to buy a RJ45 crossover cable.
If not, you will need another modem. To my knowledge no router with USB modem support exist.
