    Office 2007
    « on: December 28, 2007, 07:17:10 AM »
After installing Office 2007 all pictures (inc .gif's) are displayed using Microsoft Office picture Manager.  The .gif's do not run as they did in Windows picture and Fax viewer.  How can I set the Windows picture and Fax viewer to be the default viewer.

Also after installing Office 2007 the computer takes a long time to shut down (thought it was due to a virus or spyware but whatever anti-spyware program or anti-virus program I run they show no infections) has anyone else noticed a slow shutdown after installing Office 2007?

Right clik a .gif file and select Open With....you can then set which program it uses.

Thanks for that, I had a lot of .gif's and they are now all changed over. :)

Anyone out there have any feedback on my second question? ???

When you apply patio's advice, default program will change for all gifs.

        Hi Guys,

Well I have just been speaking to someone who has said that Office 2007 is very resource hungry and that as my computer isn't the latest spec then this is the cause of the slow shutdown (the computers struggling to close office).  I have gone into the registry and have altered the time to kill appl: to a lower amount, this has helped a little.  Thanks for all your help.
        Mark.

I have installed Office 2007 on my desktop (P4 3.06, 1GB RAM) and my girlfriend's laptop (Toshiba Libretto U100, ~1Ghz PentiumM 512MB RAM, not the fastest nor the most powerful laptop). Neither computer has shown any performance change since installing.
