    Faulty disk
    « on: January 24, 2008, 05:09:43 AM »
    Hi,

I have a hard disk which I think may be dead beyond repair - just thought I'd check if anyone has any other tips that may work in my attempts to revive it.

It came out of a USB enclosure, and is a 2.5". I connected it to a desktop PC as a slave, and at first it was recognised and I could view the files. Then I lost the connection to the drive, and it disappeared from My Computer.

Now the desktop machine won't boot with the faulty drive connected, it doesn't get any further than the manufacturers display screen. I tried reconnecting it via the USB enclosure, but I get an error message "An error occured with your hardware..."

    Any ideas?
