fraps not working

i have had this issue for a while, and i've looked everywhere for a fix. fraps won't record anything, and people have suggested fixes for 32-bit systems by adjusting the registries, but theres nothing for x64 systems. i don't know if this would be put under the 'can't help you because you are adjusting important stuff' thing. if it is, i apologize. if not, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried fraps in more than one game?

the exact nature is that fraps will not record anything when i press the record key, which by default is f9. i've made sure the program is running, and i've tried it on a few games.

So fraps doesn't start recording at all when you press the record key?
Have you tried changing the record key to something other than f9?

yep, tried that. no results.

no. i have a logitecg g11 keyboard with a million 'g' keys on the left side, which are equal in value to other keys on the board, like 'g18' is equal to 'L' or something.

Try one of the bog standard alphabetic keys on the keyboard just for testing.. it might be an issue with those special keys.

Consult your Logitech keyboard manual...
And see if maybe there are 64bit drivers available for that keyboard.

Hmm... And Fraps doesn't even create a file when you hit the record key?
Do you have the frame rate counter in the corner of your screen when you launch a game with Fraps running?

patio: downloaded the x64 drivers from the website. didn't help.

Do the counter turn red when you hit the record key?

no, the counter doesn't even show up. it's like the program is refusing to work.

Do you have the latest version of Fraps and you tried to uninstall/reinstall it?

yea, tried it. i've read elsewhere that theres a problem that if you've had a trial version of fraps and you get the real version, the registries from the trial version don't go away and prevent the usage of the new version.

If that is the case I suggest you uninstall Fraps and make sure the Fraps folder is deleted.
Then download CCleaner (get the slim version) and use it to clean the registry. Hopefully that can take care of any leftover registry keys.

well i tried that and fixed all the errors in the registry. still nothing.

Uninstall fraps and then run CCleaner "issues" scan to clean out the garbage.
Then un-install the game and re-install it and do the same with fraps.

ccleaner only brings up like 2 things related to fraps, and i've fixed them both while fraps was installed and when fraps was uninstalled. i'm still not getting any results.

yup. several times, actually. and did the ccleaner every time it was installed and un-installed.
