i think DVD SCREENER isnt the file extention as i cant seem to find any thing about it in a search engine a DVD SCREENER seems to be an unrelased movie pirated and put on the net i think that DVD SCREENER IS PART OF THE FILE NAME not the file type

go to the file right click on it select properties and tell us wht i says the file type is

Dvd.screener is not a file extension. It is as bartrob says a definition movie pirates use to indicate the movie isn't from a true retail DVD source.

But you appear to have downloaded a spyware scam.
A real video file would NEVER give you an error message urging you to download software like the error message you got.
This is what you get for trying to download pirated movies.

Nope. I don't believe you've downloaded a movie at all.

Just to claryfy little bit more.
You already know from Deerpark's link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirated_movie_release_types what "screener" is.
In most cases, movies like this are playable. They may display some copyright warning screen at the beginning, or they may display a watermark throughout a movie.
Often Windows Media Player won't play movie like this one, because of copyright issues. That's why, you're getting this:
                  Quote
the file is not compatible with your media player
3rd party players, usually will play it, but if you're getting something like:
                  Quote

                  Code: [Select]
www.TorrentMovieSupport.com to download the Media Player.
the file is suspicious, and should be left alone.

Oh, I would say you need to check your computer for viruses and adware after such files! Most probably the file had .exe extension that you didn't see, because extensions are hidden on your system.
