DLoad LinkDownloaded a new (to me) defragmentation utility and took it around the block...
Systems tested on:
Win2K
Windows XP
Vista (32 bit only)
NOTE: Each corresponding partition tested was an average size of 50G
I'll have to say i was impressed for a freebie.
Very responsive , neat clean interface with no bells and whistles, no nag screens asking for purchase.
Win2K times: up to 35% faster than Windows defrag and about 30% faster than Diskeeper Lite ( which has been my tool of choice)
XP times: Same as above.
Vista times: Approximately 50% faster.
So intrigued by the speed i tested a bit further.
Normally if i run DisKeeper Lite to completion and immediately run it again it finishes pretty rapidly...with most of the time being used up reading the FAT contents.
So after Auslogics finished way ahead of time i immediately ran Diskeeper Lite to see if the results were the same.
Unfortunately DisKeeper still acted like it had work to do and ran a bit longer than a 2nd run after DKLite's test runs back to back.I don't at this time know the full reason but i suspect it skips the swapfile which is not all that critical. It may just have a more efficient engine for doing it's job.
Conclusion: For anyone who is complacent about running their utilities on a regular basis this is for you. If a tool can get the job done faster and means you may use it more often to keep things running smoothly then grab it now.
Did i mention it's FREE ? ?
