Windows Media Player Problem

I have been trying to update windows media player 9 to 11, and I keep getting the error message "wmpnetwk.exe is not a valid win32 application.  Can anyone help???

How exactly did you try to go from ver. 9 to ver. 11?
At what point are you receiving the error?

during the installation of the upgrade to wmp11.  also I checked the properties of the wmpnetwk.exe file, it indicates that it may be a vista file...I downgraded from vista to xp recently

You should download files for XP, they are different.
