Ffdshow is included in the K-Lite pack.

Unless you know specifically which codecs you need from the K-Lite pack, it's about a 13mb download & I think it was something like 28mb on install, most of which is unnecessary for most people's needs (especially for just playing MP4's).

Ffdshow is a 317kb download & about 10mb on the HD.

well, when you have installed the k-lite codec pack, most average users can be sure that they can play majority of their files except for some obscure or not commonly used file types. So I'd still suggest you download k-lite codec pack to save some time.

Yes, FFDShow is used.

BUT by all means, of MP4 is only video type you ever watch, then getting FFDShow alone may be enough.

I agree, it's an easy way to ensure you are prepared for most popular media types.
