reverse IDE cables

I know this sounds dumb but I have to ask it anyway.....My HDD sirs at a 90 degree angle form the other drives in my case. is it possible to put the system side of the cable on the Master side and the slave drive side to the slave drive then inputting from the board using the Master end of the cable ?.. problem is I cant seem to find a IDE cable long enough to go from Master to slave from the MOBO ...

They have new modular IDE cables that are round and also longer between the master and slave connectors...perhaps this would be a more workable solution than hooking up the existing cable backwards.
