Disconnected USB ports
« on: February 09, 2008, 12:29:57 PM »
I purchased a computer at a flea market which has two USB ports at the back and two in the front panel. The two in the front panel has the leads disconnected. The Mobo is SIS746-K7S7AG  be ECS. Does anyone know where I can travel to find a diagram or manual for this motherboard in order to correctly re-connect these ports?

The ECS homepage is here and it seems like there's a user manual download available plus other goodies.

Good luck

Thanks, Dusty. Even thought the number of the mobo is the same as the numbers I found at startup, the configurations are not the same as the mobo. For example there are actually 5 pci slots but only two USB ports on the back and two in the front.

Variations on a theme.  Have you located the USB3 Front Panel Header socket shown in the diagram on page 5 of the English translation?   If so please try plugging the Front Panel Usb ports to the header.

I'm going to fire up that computer tomorrow, load the PDF file and have a closer look. I'll let you know.

You may need a magnifying glass but the USB header pins along with their polarity should be marked on the MBoard itself...

If you are unsuccessful in locating and connecting front panel USB wires to the motherboard, here's a USB 2.0 PCI card that provides two additional ports on back and has pins for the wiring for the front ports: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815166001
