inaccesible boot device

I have windows 2000 professional.
it boots up and starts to load windows then part way through it crashes and says "inaccesible boot device"
it also says to run chkdsk /f, but i cant get toa c: prompt to run it.
then i booted from a floppy  tried to change to c: but it says there isn't one.
waht i dont understand is if there is no c drive then how can it get as far as loading windows?

please any help

Welcome to the CH forums.

Try running Fixboot from the Recovery Console.
