AAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!! What happened to my visual styles?????
« on: February 11, 2008, 10:25:30 PM »
Hello all  :)

A few months ago I ran System File Checker because I kept getting "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close". Well that problem is fixed. But when I rebooted I got the Windows Classic theme. I went into Display Properties, clicked on the Display tab, but the visual style I use (Royale Remixed Theme, not signed by Micro$oft) is no longer there!! I'm guessing that SFC had replaced my patched UXTHEME.DLL file, however, SFC didn't ask for the Windows CD-ROM. So how the heck do I fix this problem without running the UXTHEME.DLL patcher again? I've got enough problems on this computer without replacing the files in my Windows folder.

Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition SP2.

Thank you for your time  ;D

SFC overwrites missing or corrupted system files only...
So this would mean whatever patch/theme you were using uses one of those files and hence was overwritten by the process.
You will have to start over with the theme.
