Windows XP Pro running system not working properly....
    « on: February 12, 2008, 04:36:50 PM »
about 10 minutes ago i logged on to my computer and i couldnt open anything..... i got the error "this program failed to initalize, press OK to abort" and eventually i rebooted and when i got back... everything worked except M-S word and M-S Frontpage, which are quite frankly the 2 programs i need the most... and i have a website due midnight tomarrow... and time is precious...

oh yes i tried to manually open frontpage by going into my C:/ drive but whenver i typed in the address in the bar... the program froze and when i ctrl-alt-del the folder explorer.exe (taskbar and desktop items) resets... and i see a program running in my system tray with a red/white M on it... that im 100% sure i didnt install... and im the only one that ever uses it... but i have virus and firewall protection, and it is always up to date...

    Thx
    Simi

Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts.

        I'm glad, it worked :)
Apparently some registry entries got corrupted (yes, yes, Windows can do it ti itself, just like that), and System Restore restored correct values from the date when they were working OK.
