    Laptop not booting past POST
    « on: February 21, 2008, 11:30:25 AM »
I have a Compaq Presario M2000 in my shop. When turned on, it POSTS, gives two short beeps, then says "Press F1 to continue, Press F2 to setup". No response from either F1 or F2. tried going into BIOS with F10 before the message pops up, doesn't respond.

Can't boot to a CD to run hardware diagnostics. Tried several different ram sticks of the same speed and capacity (PC2700 256 MB) and still the same thing. Took out the hard drive to see if it would make a difference, and it just hangs at the BIOS splash screen. I'm starting to think a bad board is the culprit, but I wanted to get a few other opinions.

    Any ideas?

Have you tried hp/compaq's website?  If you're getting a beep code, then they should have documentation that'll tell you what it pertains to.
