Access Denied - User Accounts
« on: January 17, 2005, 10:16:21 PM »
I have 2 computers. Both Windows XP Home. On one computer, I can't get windows to boot in safe mode or normal. I want to get some files off of this hard drive before I delete the partition and start over, so I hooked it up as a slave on my other computer.

I try to get into the Documents and Settings\Owner folder and get an "Access Denied" message. I'm assuming this is because of the password protection for the user account.

Any ideas how to remove this from windows explorer?

Take ownership of the folders.
Right Click on the folder/s select properties, select security, click advanced, click on owner, select your user name and select "replace owner on subcontainers and folders", click ok....this should do it.
