WINDOWS VISTA SHORTCUT ICON ERRORS...HELP PLEASE!!

I have Vista Home Premium and last week my icons on my desktop shortcuts were all messed up, and I can't figure out exactly what broke them or how to fix them. My only idea is that a system cleaning program that removes junk and fixes errors somehow messed them up, but I don't know. I have tried right click, change icon picture, and the doesn't work. I also tried creating new shortcuts, same thing happens. Does anyone know how to fix them?

Go Start>All Programs>Accessories, right click on Command Prompt, click Run As Administrator

Shutdown Explorer process from the Task Manager

In the Command Prompt window go to C:\Users\<ProfileName>\AppData\Local
Do the following command:
attrib -H IconCache.db
Do the following command:
del IconCache.db
Do the following command:
start explorer

This should rebuild the Icon Cache...

Tried what Broni said, and I couldn't get the commands to work. :-(

Look close at my commands...there are "spaces" there.

I tried it again, with spaces exactly how you wrote it, and it says it can't find the file iconcache.db

I opened command prompt, closed explorer, then typed all your commands. The icons are still messed up.

Check in Windows Explorer, if IconCache.db exist at C:\Users\<ProfileName>\AppData\Local. Make sure, view of hidden files is enabled.

The file is not there. I turned on "show hidden files" and looked in appdata\local and no iconcache file.

Search your computer for IconCache.db. Maybe it's at wrong location.
