    himem.sys problem

    recently  i formatted my HD on my 10 year old PC, after i reinstall the windows  XP i had a problem on the start up, it won't continue to windows...

    it only show black screen, with a word loading himem.sys


    can some one know what is the problem??

    i've already tried reintalling the OS.

      why did you reformat a 10 year old drive?

      Was your comp acting up or not booting/cycle booting?  If that's a 10 year old HD then I'd bet money a bad drive was your problem to begin with.  There's nothing an OS restore/install could do for you there.

          i have already deleted the partition and formated the HD and it is stock on the loading himem.sys part.

          i guess ill try what MR flip18 said...

          any way if their is some infor regarding this problem of mine.. please post here

            i deleted the partition on the XP setup process and format it by NTFS.

            then i start installing the OS....

            have i've done it  the wrong way?

            or should i do the delete the partion in FDISK mode? ;D
