I assumed it was telling me to follow the directions for the 2nd option where it says "If Startup Repair is a preinstalled recovery option on your computer."

I see. With HP, you should have that option.

Tried a startup repair and it found no problems.

Yes....tried Firefox and Opera. Even uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, but no luck.

I was on with HP again today and they had me turn off my firewall temporarily and disable phishing filters on the site as well, but that didn't work either. I also tried changing the resolution on my screen, but no change. They also had me reset my load setup defaults to reset BIOS (whatever that means) after I tried to download some phishing fix they'd suggested I download wouldn't download...I got a message saying the update wasn't for my system. Here is the link to the update they suggested:

That update is definitely for Vista, so I don't know why it wouldn't update.
Go to Control Panel, and double click on Windows Updates to see if your updates are current.

The only updates I have are optional ones and don't seem relevant to my issue (they have to do with audio, printer, fax, modem, etc...)

Ah....I just looked at my update log and I'd already done this phishing update last year. No wonder why it wouldn't install!

I was hoping this might have been the issue.  Oh well.

Go Start>All Programs>Mozilla Firefox, click on Firefox(safe mode), and see, if it helps.
