Cannot "press any key to boot from cd"

I'm attempting to do a fresh install of XP. When I attempted to boot from the CD I have my keyboard and mouse stop working when it asks my to press any key to boot from the CD. how do i fix this? both keyboard and mouse are usb

Borrow PS/2 keyboard, or buy (few bucks) USB to PS/2 adapter.
