Never had a problem with Ad-Aware before, even through updates, changes.  Now, it had advised me my old version was no longer supported so I updated Ad-Aware Free 2007, (I think it is).  Popped back to look at my email, clicked on Eurdora shortcut and got error message:  " Problem with shortcut, Eudora.exe that shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so shortcut will not work."

I pull up, "All Programs," and I see Eudora, but clicking on menu extension merely produces the above error.  I looked to try to go back to old restore point, and only saw today's 12.01 auto restore point which was after Ad-Aware update .  Clicking on previous month produces no other choices.  My mistakes:  not making a current restore point just before downloading updated software.  Second mistake, not making routine restore point for the past few weeks.  Do restore points, "fall away, " and die after too long a time?

Have PC, XP home, Svc Pack 2, always MS updated, current this morning.

Any way to recover my Eudora and it's stored emails?   Thanks for putting up with me.  Dennis

    Try to uninstall Ad-aware.

Broni !  Bless you, you're still here.

Well, I should have un-installed Ad-Aware,  but never thought if it in my panic.  So I just un-installed it after your suggestion, then restarted my computer and have the same error message and Eudora is still not accessable.

I hope the files are still in here and it's just access that's fouled up.

      Next idea?

Instead of going Start>All Programs, open Windows Explorer, and locate eudora.exe (should be under Program Files\Eudora), and double click.

        Thanks.

Tried that; Eudora is not there.  Then remembered a late friend of mine 2 years ago convinced me I should partition my HD.  I did following his directions.  In partition D, (drive D), I was to put all my applications, various downloads, etc.  (That was where I just put Ad-Aware too) But I don't remember now if Eudora was in C or D drive.

Exploring drive D, I found a folder, "EudPriv," which I clicked on, bringing up, "Ads."  Then I clicked on that and found a few folders, one of which was, "Eudora.idx."  I clicked on that and it said, "Windows cannot open this file.  Need to know what program created it.  Bullet one:  Look on web automatically.  Bullet two:  Select from List.

        I did not go further.

So far, this does not look good to me.

        ?

Just search all drives on your computer for eudora.exe

          I did.  Not there.

One other thing.....I appologize for my mind being mush over this...

After I installed Ad-Aware, I ran a scan, it found bunches of cookies, etc., which I deleted as I had always done.  I wonder if the, "new" Ad-Aware is offering to delect FAR more than they did in the past and it dumped my Eudora along with cookies, etc.

Search for *.MBX. These are your mail folders.

While you were replying, I was still looking.  I, "explored," but this time used the actual search function, and this time it responded out of Drive C:  "Eudora.exe.35EE2351.pf, "  in folder, "C:\windows\Prefetch."

I'll go look now at what you last recommended.

"Eudora.exe.35EE2351.pf, " won't do. This is just for preloading Eudora, so it starts faster.

Make sure, you search ALL drives.

              No mbx files, either?

True. No MBX files or Eudora.exe files.  None.

I sure never expected anything like this.  Not that I can't live without my stored emails, but it's a headache starting over, mostly find addresses.

This is really weird. I've never heard of Ad-aware removing a whole program.
You sure, that you have "show hidden files" enabled?
Also, when you right click on Start>Programs>Eudora shortcut, then Properties, where does the shortcut points to?
