Have you ensured your system meets the requirements?

    * Microsoft® Windows® 2000/XP
    * Intel® Pentium® II 450 Mhz or equivalent (Intel Pentium III 800 Mhz or faster recommended)
    * 128 MB RAM (256 MB RAM or more recommended)
    * 600 MB free hard disk space
    * Microsoft DirectX® 8.1 compatible video and sound card
    * Internet connection: 56K or faster modem, a broadband Internet connection (cable or DSL) is recommended

To check DirectX goto:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\dxdiag

(or start > search > all programs > dxdiag)

Your version of directX will show at the bottom of the system tab

To upgrade DirectX
