    Good...

Download, and install CCleaner: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds. Get "Slim" version.
Read CCleaner instruction here: http://www.jahewi.nl/ccleaner/ccleaner.html, and run CCleaner

When you're done, let me know how your computer is doing.

I have a Q first, when all is checked, like for example, AVG, CS2, ect... I click run cleaner it tells me "This process will permanently delete files from your system."  Not the actual program right? What is it deleting? I looked at the home page, it just tells me how to stop that message from popping up.....

VERY funny neljan. If so I cannot take the credit, its all my "computer wizard" sister. ::)

So I could not find a manual but I read thru the web site better, then ran it. I like this program SO much better than that ATF cleaner I had. Things are running a bit faster, but I guess I am used to my desktop, with the 2+ processor.  I feel better its much cleaner now. One more Q, is there a way to "categorize" the All Programs under the start menu?? Its suck a mess, and I like things in order, say I could have a "Computer Security" with all my fighting tools under that.....is this possible??

Thanks so much I am glad you are a computer genius, and were there for me!
        I will spread the word.....

Thanks so much I am glad you are a computer genius, and were there for me!

I can't take all the credit, Broni did help (a little)

         ;D

All the entries within start > programs are simply shortcuts, you can arrange these as you wish/rename them/add new ones/create new directories etc like mine:

        Pretty huh? no? ok...

You can drag these shortcuts to where you would like them or even drag/drop em in the bin. Don't worry if you accidentally delete any, you can get them back by creating a new shortcut from the location of the applications .exe in it's installation directory (usually within C:\Program Files).

To organise things easier, right click Start > open all users > programs. Here you can create new directories/categories.

I hate it when programs install their own directory with 'uninstall, online upgrade, help, manual blah blah blah' entries. I just have program shortcuts. When I install something new, I drag the program exe shortcut from the little directory it made & then delete that directory.

        Glad to help.

BTW, do either of you know much about the canon software? because i was thinking some are outdated, on here and some are updates, its cluttered, theres a lot but I don't know what ones should be removed, I would remove them all, and reinstall but I loaned out the CD and never got it back. Any suggestions?

            I'm afraid I don't.

I take it you have a Canon printer or other Canon hardware?

What entries for Canon do you have in control panel > add/remove programs?

Well there were a LOT, but I just said screw it and deleted them all, I am going to pay for a replacement disk from canon.....it will take a while but I guess I can still view my pics in My pictures. I didn't know I could do that with out zoombrowser, I think I relied too much on it. I have a card reader program so till i get my new disk, I can just do that...sorry to bother you!!

I'm glad, your computer is running better. We cleaned a lot, and this is all we can do for now, short of some hardware changes.
As for Start menu, personally, I hardly use it to launch programs. I use my Desktop, where I created folders like Utilities, Multimedia, Maintenance, Security, etc. This way, I know exactly where what program exactly is located.
As for Canon...do you mean printer? If so, almost everything is to be found on-line. No need to pay for CD. Depends on what you want.

No the canon is my camera, and they don't offer the base install only the upgrades, BUT I did email them last night and they are sending me a new disk, free of charge,.....so helpful.

I was told that having many icons on your desktop takes up memory or something and makes the computer run slower, so I have everything in start or quick launch.......
