Re-format C: Drive did not work. What now??
    « on: March 13, 2008, 11:45:09 AM »
    Hi,

    This is my initial post.
    http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,53065.0.html

I tried to fix the problem by formatting my C: drive and re-installing Windows XP.  The format worked fine, but while re-installing XP it was unable to copy about 15 files (including several .sys files) so i had to skip them.  Once the re-install was complete it re-booted my system, only for the re-boot to fail.

When it tries to load Windows I still get a blue DOS screen with a STOP error and still can't start up in safe mode.

    Is my PC completely goosed?!

    Please help!!

    Iain

Do you mean my CD copy of XP?

If so, it is an official Dell CD that came with the computer which I have succesfully used on the same PC before.

Do you know of any DOS based hardware diagnostics I can run to determine the probelm?

Sometimes you can make an exact copy of your install disk
on another PC. Where the original would not install properly
        the copy will.
