Since Google is so popular,  it saves having to remember another website.

Entering    "  1 pound in us dollars =   "      in Google    returns:

"1 British pound = 2.0302 U.S. dollars"        as of now.

Google does a LOT of conversions,  if you get the right syntax.

The euro sign (€) is the currency sign used for the euro currency. The currency sign was presented to the public by the European Commission on 12 December 1996. The international three-letter code (according to ISO standard ISO 4217) for the euro is EUR.

The pound sterling (symbol: £; ISO code: GBP), subdivided into 100 pence (singular: penny), is the currency of the United Kingdom, its Crown dependencies (the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands) and the British Overseas Territories of South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, British Antarctic Territory and British Indian Ocean Territory.[1][2][3]

To me they look nothing alike...hope this clears up any confusion.
