I don't care about the size of the vacuum....you guys feel free to use them if you like.

3 steps across a piece of carpet on a humid day will ruin a RAM chip or a CPU...should we discuss the size of the carpet or the relative humidity as well ? ?

As i said feel free to do so.

Doesn't matter...they still create huge amounts of static.

Curiosity question:   What about the ones with plastic nozzles on plastic hoses?

soybean:   I'm like you.   I've done it, but I tread carefully.
Usually vacuum only the dust bunnies that build up around the fan cover on the power supply, and around the intake on the plastic front cover.

It's a myth that the plastic won't conduct.

At a site i was working at they had these mammoth presses that did 8 color printing on 4 to 5 foot high backrolls of different mil plastic film...i made the mistake of touching one out of the press before it had grounded. Lost a few seconds of reality there...

I'd guess its the amount of air and molecules they move rapidly that produces it but don't quote me on that to a Scientist...

That's static electricity. Different from electric current, which does require a conductor.

True, true...but Patio's hair-raising ecperience is a good example for those who think, or perhaps have never considered, that plastics won't facilitate any kind of electrical activity.
