Resolution problems (why can't stuff be smaller)

for some reason, some programs I have are too large to be fully seen on the entire screen, I tried to change the resolution but for some reason I only have two options, and the other one makes windows bigger. Do I need a bigger monitor or is there a way to fix this?

Your video drivers may be corrupt / missing...try re-installing them.
