Audio Sound Problem

My son was viewing a video and it stated that he needed a updated driver to hear it  He clicked OK and the site downloaded into the computer - nothing happened after thzat so he went elsewhere and does not know where it was

The next day when booting up the computer it said it had found new hardware and try to find the drivers for it
It could not and then stated that New Hardware was not properly installed

We can not play any music CD's or MPEG movies now as it says that the sound system is either being used by another program or is not functioning properly

Looking under Device Manager there is an entry under Other Devices - Multimedia Audio Controller

Looking up the properties it has no name - no driver and no information of any sort

I have disabled it to stop it trying to look for a driver every time we boot up

Does anybody know how to delete it

Please supply the following information:
1.  Make and model of computer.
2.  Operating Sytem used (what version of Windows).

Try this... Click Start -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore ... When you click on this, you will see a new window... In that window, click on revert to an earlier time, and click next... After, select THE DAY BEFORE your son downloaded those drivers... Once that day is selected, click next... You will receive a warning message saying what will happen to the computer... Just click on the close/next button on the bottom-right corner of the window to continue... Your computer will now restart, and restore your computer... Now, this MIGHT take a while, so be patient... Let us know what happens...

2)- Operating System

I have tried the Restore but it does not go back far enough

Computer  Intel (R) Celeron (R) CPU 2.00GHz

System  Microsoft Windows XP Version 2002  Service Pack 2

I do not know where to find the sound card imformation

To find the card information, Click Start -> Run ... Next, type dxdiag , and hit enter... Next you might see a small dialog box... Click no to that, and wait for a large window to pop-up... When the large window loads, click on the sound tab, and tell us what you see in the manufacturer information tab...
