    Question Regarding Computer Problem
    « on: March 23, 2008, 06:36:26 PM »
I'm not sure what forum this falls under, so I'll try here.

My computer worked fine with no problems, I had it on this morning and was cleaning and my son decided to change the light color on the computer itself.  So he went into f2 or f12 and changed the light, but then when he exited, i got the follow error message, loading pbr for descriptor 2...done., pbr bad.

I have a warranty with dell and called them up and he tried a few things, but said that I would have to recover the entire computer and that might not work and they need to send somebody out with new parts.

First off, the computer had no issues til we went to change the light, so I figured maybe my son clicked some other setting.  I tried setting everything back to factory default, but now I don't get any messages and the dell screen line loads, the screen goes black, then the dell line starts all over again, this process repeats over and over.

My problem is I have info on the computer files/pics etc, that I don't want to lose and I was looking at like geek squad and an external hard drive and it's look like I will end up spending 400 to 700, just to recover my files so I can then have dell come fix my computer.

I also tried using the windows disk but it won't let me repair and when i tried to install windows after the intialization, it will show my free space and tells me to choose that but then i get some message it failed for whatever reason.

Any suggestions on how I can either fix this on my own, or how can i get my info on my comp onto another source without having to spend so much money?

I am sorry but I don't understand. What do you mean you changed the light? Do you mean some color on the screen?
