How many computers does the license allow you to load it on?   :o  ???

I know of someone who has a legit copy of CS3, and she can only have it on one computer at a time.  She redid her computer from the ground up, and had to re-register with Adobe to be able to use the program again.  She thinks you might be able to have it on a desktop and laptop, but is not sure about even that.

okay, I just wanted to get that out of the way...my apologies...so the executable won't execute on your computer...next time you try to use it, check your task manager (ctrl-alt-delete) and see how many instances of the applicaton are running...no evidence -- just wondering if it's trying to run more than one instance at the same time...

Just a hunch, but %ProgramFilesDir% is not expanded in the error message. Have you checked it's value? Is it valid?

Right, let me get this straight, I am a total failure when it comes to computers so tell me what to do to check if its valid or not. I am at school right now, and it works on this computer and others

Try running set from the command prompt. You can look in the list if ProgramFilesDir has a value.

You can also run set ProgramFilesDir from a command prompt which will list only that variable.

Once you determine the value (if any), you can decide if it's valid.

True, but very meaningful ones. ;D Try the second method (set ProgramFilesDir) at the command prompt and post the result.

That could be true, but now I'm confused. This flash drive works on the school computers and the ProgramFilesDir variable is undefined?

How are you launching Photoshop, by double clicking it's icon or does in autostart when you insert the drive?

What about your computer, is ProgramFilesDir assigned a value?

It's interesting to note that in the error message with ProgramFilesDir undefined, the literal still resolves to a legal path.

The ProgramFiles=C:/ ProgramFiles variable would point to the hard disk. Are you not running Photoshop from a portable drive?

It has a value, otherwise it wouldnt work on the other computers. Any suggestions what to do next?
