Backup
« on: January 26, 2005, 02:05:13 PM »
Hi,
I am having problems on my computer.
The Hard drive is partioned:
Drive C has Window XP
Drive D has the office and all files.
The Explorer does not open, the Control panel does not open.
My question how can I back up the files on D Drive.
Cannot do it through DOS  to copy on a Floppy, as some of the files are big and there are two many of them.
Tried the following.
Tried to install the XP, it freezes.
Tried to connect the Hard Drive to another coputer,
Parrellel to the drive, connected it where the CD writer goes. Nothing works.
If I format the C drive I know it will install a new copy of the XP, but what will happen to all my office files. As a friend of mine tried doing this and all his files on the other partitioned drive were also removed and more over he had to reinstall the Office.

Really appriciate all help to back up the files.

Thanks

Habeeb

Hello, how are you? You write that you connect your hard disk on another computer where we connect CD Drive or CD Writer.
If you want to do this then make sure that you have made your(faulty) hard disk as "Slave" and the hard disk that is woking properly as "master". Then boot the PC either from DOS or windows (from "OK" hard disk)and transfer the files from your hard disk to the hard disk that is working properly.
I hope that this will solve your problem.
