    e Machines C6415
    « on: April 07, 2008, 01:17:02 PM »
     Hello,
I have an e Machines 6415 that I am attempting to ressurect. It was in storage for about 6 monthes, I tried turning it on and got nothing. So, I put it back in storage for another few monthes and now I have it here and I reset the processor and added different hardware..( 1 dvd rom, diff h.d. etc;) ...My question is : Does anyone know where to find beep code definitions for emachines computers?? Ive easily found this information in the past for other computer boards (Dell, ABIT...).
The e Machines website truly sucks and that is being nice.
     Any ideas are appreciated. Thankyou

DLoad install and run Everest Home (Free) and save a report as a text file...copy and Post the Computer Summary portion here and we'll be on our way...
By their history however the first thing i would be doing is buying a decent PSU for it.
Don't get a $20.00 special though or you will have more of the same...

That is a cool little program. I tried it on my laptop. It's loaded with information. I am not able to boot up the eMachine computer to try it on that . ??? I get as far as pushing the power button...fans start turning and lights go on ( but there's nobody home).....then the computer begins to beep ...long slow beeps. It doesn't put anything on the monitor so I don't know how far along it gets before the error happens. Beeps dont stop until I turn it back off..... :-\

They have Live Chat with tech on their web site. Did you try it?

This is your motherboard - MS-7145:

According to its maker - MSI:

RS480M-IL (MS-7145) comes with AMD processor, and AMI BIOS

There's a little sticker on (I guess) the bios chip that reads: Phoenix Bios D686Bios Phoenix 1998  280747240. So, do I have a Phoenix bios or an AMI bios? Or, are they one in the same?  :-\ I have not called tech support from their website because I dont have any of the original hardware connected to this board. I believe the processor is the only original part ;D Also, the beeps I receive arent described in any of those beepcodes from that website . ( Thanks for that site by the way , it will be useful in the future =) ) When I power on this machine it beeps long beeps with a pause in between . I counted 12  long beeps before turning it off at last attempt. I will continue my search....

Neither, Phoenix, or AMI lists endless loop in beep codes.
The only one is Award BIOS. It says, bad RAM.

Your either gonna have to change to another keyboard,or
          try different ram.

Is your keyboard plugged properly ? If you are using a USB
keyboard try the old timey PS/2....... ;)
