can't login to Windows 2000 NP
    « on: April 11, 2008, 06:39:33 AM »
This is the first time this has happened. I had a power outage and my computer turned off.  I restarted it and it's now asking me for a login and password, problem is I've never set up a login or password.  When I try to login it gives me an error "THE SYSTEM CANNOT LOG YOU IN BECAUSE THE DOMAIN HOME-PC IS NOT AVAILABLE".  But it doesn't give me the option to change the domain.  I'm stuck at the windows login screen.  I restarted the computer 3 times.

What happens if you just hit Enter at the prompt ?

Have you tried starting up in safemode and re-setting the Admin prompts ? ?

I probably should mention that I'm not very computer savvy.  How do I start in Safe Mode?

I apologise for leaving that info out...
When starting the machine tap F8 repeatedly before you see the Win2K logo screen.
It will list 4 or 5 choices...plain Safe Mode will be fine for your needs.
Once in hit CTRL+ALT+DELETE and clik change password...leave the entries blank if you do not want one.
