    This is my problem.

Comp started to do fan noises. It started to restart in random times with out reason. I unchecked on the system the restart when error is detected. The comp still restarting without reason.

I open and see that the CPU fan had a loot of dust. I took it of cleaned it, and installed it again.
I try to boot it back, but nothing happend. No beep. HD made noises, DVD drive turns on, comp turn on but no display on monitor.

I removed ram, nothing. remove DVD drive. Nothing. I remove the CPU and the it started again.
Beep normal, but XP does not load and comp shutsdown with no reason.

This is what is doing now. I press the on bottom and displays on the monitor the first 2 screens normal, no errors displays but after the second load screen, it shutdown...!!!!

This is driving me crazy...pls help, advace, anything....!!!!!

Have you ever heard of "thermal paste".  It is used between the CPU and heatsink to facilitate the heat flow from CPU to heatsink.  The CPU will shut down and/or fail if it gets too hot!

Yes, i know about the thermal paste, and to be honest i didn't put any on the cpu. You think that is possible that  the cpu is getting too hot just by booting? I will get some paste soon and try it. What else could be happening???

You need to apply thermal paste before you do any additional troubleshooting, in fact do not power on the computer at all before thermal paste is applied. You are only going to damage the processor by continuing to do so.

Sounds like you are in the same shape I am in.  Same symptoms.  Do not keep trying to turn on the computer.  I believe I tried to start up one too many times and have fried my CPU.  However, I don't think your thermal paste just "wore out," we have other pending problems.  I'm trying the power supply first.  A different website said some computers will be aware of power supply and/or fan issues and not boot for this reason.  Good Luck.  Oh, and I'm looking for a static guard bag or surface so as not to fry the mother board, etc. while I'm changing parts in and out.

Oh, and don't forget the thermal paste.

                Hi again...

I went to buy the thermal paste today, and after 3 hrs of looking for it on Best buy, Circuit city, Office depot, etc... i finally got it for 2 bucks. I applied it and my PC is working fine again... I just can't believe that something that looks insignificant was the reason for my Headache.

Thank you guys for the help...  ;D

PS. I'm using My Desktop now, but it seems that the CPU fan is having a hard time, Is getting kind of loud. Any suggestions.

Simple Paws, I think that reinstalling the OS might help us...

Hey, thanks for the advice, i bought the thermo paste, apply it and the computer work just fine for about 4 hours, until for no reason it shutdowns again, restart for 2 sec and back to the beginning of my post.

Also i notice that the power supply fan wasn't spinning...

Install a temperature monitoring software, like SpeedFan and let us now what temperatures you're getting. Try putting some load on the processor, watch a movie or play a game (full screen game, not solitaire or anything like that).
Is the PSU fan not spinning at all?

I just install the speedfan software... this is the reading.

                          System: 32C
                          CPU: 64C
                          AUX: 48C
                          HD0: 33 C
                          Temp1: 40C

I don't know if this have to do with the PSU, but i when to newegg and order a new one.

I would say 64C is pretty high if that is the idle temperature.
If the PSU is not being cooled (because of a malfunctioning fan) this may be the cause of the problem. You say you've already ordered a new one? Well then there nothing to do but wait and see if swapping PSUs fixes the problem.

Investing in a new CPU fan wouldn't be a bad idea either...the Thermal Paste will need to be re-applied if the heatsink is removed to install the fan.

                              Hello guys...

I receive the new power supply, installed and just by turning it on the speed fan read this...

                              System: 29C
                              CPU: 61C
                              AUX: 48C
                              HD0: 34c
                              TEMP1: 40C

I'm concern about the CPU temp, i thought that it should be between 38c to 50 or thing like that?
