    Basic help
    « on: April 29, 2008, 03:19:39 PM »
My son gave me his computer a year ago which I wasn't that keen on because it was running XP64 and I couldn't get anything to work with it.
So I then upgraded to vista 64 hoping I may be able to source new drivers but still the same.

I successfully re formated my laptop so I thought I would have a go at the PC.

I re formated and have installed XP32.

Now this is where I need help as I haven't got any disks.

    I need drivers.

I have tried to identify the hardware.

    Abit fatal1ty AN8 SLI motherboard

    Creative blaster audigy 2

Nvidia graphics,  I cant identify this one apart from it has p317 and 3ET53 stamped on it.

My laptop was a piece of cake to do but I have come unstuck with this.

Can someone tell me in easy stupid terms to get this up and running again please.

You can run Everest to better identify your hardware.

      Ummm.... WHAT!

yeah everist will tell you what components you have and from there you will manually have to go to each manufacturers website and download the latest drivers.

Are you running a service pack?

Yes Everest identifies your hardware so you can find the correct
        drivers.

It is usually easier to post the computer manufacturer brand
name and the model number of the computer when requesting
        help on a forum.
