    install xp on exturnal hard drives

    how do i install xp on a hard drive that i have out side of my computer
    or a  a.k.a (exturnal  hard drives)
    when i have  my computer on?



    p.s.
    i love that we have options of going to place like this
    better that going to a place where they charge you like
    80 bucks just to look at your computer
    i want to thank all of you for the feed back

    What operating system does your computer run now?  Are you trying for a dual-boot kind of setup where you can choose the operating system?  If you are going to use the external drive for data, you don't need to install an operating system.

      well Aegis the hard drive is empathy right and i want to install window xp

        Some people think every hard drive needs a copy of the operating system.  It does not.  If the computer already boots up to an operating system, you can plug in the external hard drive and format it to whatever file system you want to use (probably NTFS) and start storing data and files.

        So... what exactly ARE you trying to do and for what purpose?

        There is no really easy way to install Windows XP on an external drive.

          I agree - Though there are some good tutorials for install XP on a external drive, it involves a lot of work. Creating a modified ISO image XP disk, after editing files from the original, and more... Some tutorials here:
