    Hi guys:

    We have read through your instructions - so here goes;

    Computer problems experienced.

    a) Runs very slow
    b) I clear out the crud using CCleaner and ATF-Cleaner 3-4 times a day I am noticing that both are deleting 5-20mgs every time.
c)Tabbed browsing in Firefox is virtually impossible - screen flicks intermittantly and when 'surfing for credits' the timer button will reset itself if you leave the page and then return or it will tell you that the 'credit' has already been awarded.
    d) When you click on a timer button - an error message is displayed 'surfing too fast' even when the timer has reached zero - if you do manage to click on a button then you get logged out of the programme.
    e)  Malware warning was displayed for 3 surf sites - but it was a google warning about the site spamming
    f) Panda is throwing up - home page hijack alerts
    g) Computer crashed when trying to uninstall AVG 7.5
    h)  The tower seems to talk to itself - this is intermittant.

We have returned the computer to its original configuration (same as we bought it). and reinstalled the programs except for AVG before we ran all of your tests - still not a happy pc.

the final straw - Roboform has begun refusing to put in the password to some of the sites.

We have tried running scans in normal and safe mode - all show negative results.

We were running Zone Alarm - but switched to Panda International in an effort to try and locate the source of the problem.

Scans included:  deleting the Prefetch folder then running AVG virus and spyware (7.5)  Superantispyware / Spybot Search & Destroy / and Vundofix

We wanted to see if Kaspersky would find anything - so we tried to uninstall AVG 7.5 - but found the free version would not uninstall - plus while it was on the PC - a pop under would appear on the screen - usually after it had finished updating.

We have exhausted everything we know - so over to you guys - hope you can help.

Currently we have Panda Internet Security (firewall and virus etc) (due to problems with latest free versions of AVG)

    SP3
    We are not a business
    Panda Internet Security (not AVG)
CCleaner (amended as per your instructions) - ran scan
    ATF-Cleaner
Windows XP firewall - turned off
    Java 6.5 (removed old version)
    Set up SAS (log attached)
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (updated and  log attached)
HiJack This downloaded and renamed (log attached)

Nothing malicious, indeed, but you're running two security suites at the same time: Panda, and Norton.
If you want to stay with Panda, Norton has to go: http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039
When done, post new HJT log.

Stop using ATF-Cleaner 3-4 times a day. It is a powerful cleaner and not needed that often. CCleaner is a safe 'daily' cleaner. It isn't good to clear the Prefetch very often which is what ATF-Cleaner cleaner does. It will lead to performance issues. There are some files that Windows needs to call on in order to keep it speedy including the Prefetch files.

Tip of the day: Don’t clean out the Prefetch folder | Ed Bott’s Windows Expertise |

Also, CCleaner will clean the Old Prefetch Files, it doesn't clean the entire folder.

      hi    :)

      I didn't think I had Norton on?

I do have Norton Ghost v10 installed tho and I can see in the add/remove section LiveReg and LiveUpdate 2.6 - thought they were part of Ghost?   ???

              morning   ;D

Have given the ptc sites I surf a good work out this morning - majority of them are working fine - links can be clicked and the timer is working ok and accounts are being credited.

Two of the sites are still causing problems - when you click the button to view the history stats I get logged out of the programme.  It will get logged out whatever button I first press - when I log back in the site works ok and I won't get moofed again.

Despite reloading Roboform - it is seems to be working intermittantly.  It is showing passwords for ptc's but none of the passwords for emails (gmail / cooltoad / gmx / yahoo )....  if I find anything else during the day  - will post back here....

The monitor still 'flicks' but otherwise things seem to be back to normal.

So many thanks for you help - it was very much appreciated.
