Did you get a disc with the camera, which might include a DVD transfer/authoring program? Maybe you require it to help transfer to the PC...

Generally a IFO file refers to a DVD information file that stores information relating to Chapters, Subtitles and Audio Tracks, etc. The Other DVD files include VOB and BUP files. This suggests that your video is in a dvd format...

There are many free video converters about, so perhaps have a look at super...

The videos are on a DVD+RW. The camera didn't come with any software. So I'm confused on how to convert these file.

IFO is not a video file, it's simply DVD Info File - VMGI (The Video Manager Information file)

Well it also says something about a BUP file. I can show you what it says but i don't know how to paste a screen shot on here.

When i got to try to put in windows movie make i get this

The file E:\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker.

i tried another on of my files on the DVD

The file E:\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.BUP is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker.

I don't know if any of this will help but i have no idea what to do here

Also The camera is a Sony Handycam

There's no guaranteed method for importing DVD camcorder movies into the Windows XP version Windows Movie Maker and editing them. Windows XP doesn't include the required DVD decoder software by default. Many of the consumer DVD software solutions available don't consistently work with every camcorder because some of the software packages don't include both the necessary video and audio decoders.

There is a way, which works for me.
          Get free Media Coder: http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/
When you open it Add all .VOB files from E:\VIDEO_TS folder, then, see my screenshot:

It'll convert all video files to .AVI format, which is recognized by WMM.

That's why I asked. I was going to see if I could locate software (if there is any) for it.
