"I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream" (1995) was creepy. It was based on a short story by the same name (1967) by Harlan Ellison. There was no real way to win, only to die heroically.

Is "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream" freeware?  Or can I buy it somewhere?

From the list, I would say Doom 3, followed by FEAR.  After playing a few minutes of it, I had to quit because I was so scared.  FEAR was scary, but in an awesome way.  They did a lot of creative stuff to be scary.

Myst scared me when I was younger.  Something about being on a deserted island, feeling like I was being watched.  Then the talking books freaked me out.

Now that I think about it, there was this moment when I was playing Paper Mario on the n64, just before Mario enters Forever Forest (chapter 3). A boo dressed like a butler suddenly appeared out of nowhere and screams BOO! I was 10 years old back then but it still scared the sh*t out of me.  :-X I turned off my n64 and was too scared to continue. Finally, after 3 months, I bravely entered the forest again and this time with my eyes closed, so I could continue my adventure when the butler boo appeared.  :P

Silent Hill was deffinately a creeper.
Though I do remember one time when I first played RE2 and you get the mini-gun. I had just got the ladder to get to the second floor of the police station and I was introduced to the "Licker". He jumped down right in front of me and I nearly sh*t myself. I ended up using about 55% of my new mini-guns ammo on it to the point where I had pushed it back against the wall and was just filling it with lead.

I know its a old topic, but silent hill is cool, but the scariest game ever is 'Nightmare Creatures' on the PS1.
