    Well, here's what I have:

    1. For some reason, the "WINDOWS" folder shows up automatically in my Recycle Bin.

    2. Scanning with my Avast! Antivirus: Home Edition, it seems there is a lot more trojans and nothing I can do with them

And I need an awesome antivirus program. Basically, Avast! sucks. It says viruses are in places I need to run some of my programs. And it always lags my computer (Well, more then usual).

    Windows XP

    Any other info?

Any antivirus is only as good as the user behind it. They are safety nets and far from bullet proof.

Read through this thread and post the logs when complete.

      Logs posted.

Yes, I am fully aware of Messenger Plus!. But I don't plan to remove it unless it indeed is causing harm and slowing my computer

Porn, huh? I know who to scold for that >_>

You need to uninstall one of the antivirus. Either the Yahoo/eTrust EZ Antivirus or Avast. Running two is never advised. It only leads to problems, slowdowns, crashes etc.

      ----------

The scans took care of alot but there is still more work to do.

Open Hijackthis and select Do a system scan only.

Place a check mark next to the following entries: (if there)

      - O2 - BHO: (no name) - {2390F91F-186A-47CF-B607-CEE6C8D4016D} - (no file)
      - O2 - BHO: (no name) - {4E7BD74F-2B8D-469E-CCB0-B130EEDBE97C} - (no file)
      - O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

      - O2 - BHO: (no name) - {F88310BA-827B-4806-A016-BFD374B9E623} - (no file)

Important: Close all windows except for Hijackthis and then click Fix checked.

      Exit Hijackthis.

      ----------

Please download Combofix by sUBs from one of the below links.
(Try all three if necessary)Important! Combofix.exe MUST be saved to and ran from the Desktop.
      • Close any open Web browsers. (Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc) before starting Combofix.
      • Important! Temporarily disable your antivirus, script blocking and any antispyware real time protection before performing a scan.
        • Click this link to see a list of security programs that should be disabled and how to disable them.
        • If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
      • Warning: Combofix disconnects your computer from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before Combofix completes its run.
      • Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
        • Choose Yes to accept the Disclaimers.[
        • When finished, it will produce a log for you.
        • Post that log in your next reply.
Warning: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall
        • If Combofix runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your computer.
        • Important: Remember to re-enable your antivirus and antispyware before reconnecting to the Internet.
        .
If needed, see this Combofix tutorial with screenshots that will detail the downloading and running of combofix more thoroughly.

        ----------

Next run a new Hijackthis scan and post that log as well.

        ----------

        Next post
        Combofix log
        New Hijackthis log

Well that revealed some new infections.

Open Hijackthis and select Do a system scan only.

Place a check mark next to the following entries: (if there)

          - O20 - Winlogon Notify: fccyayw - fccyayw.dll (file missing)
          - O20 - Winlogon Notify: vtsqp - C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtsqp.dll (file missing)

Important: Close all windows except for Hijackthis and then click Fix checked.

          Exit Hijackthis.

          ----------

Please download FindAWF by noadfear from one of the below links.
Save the file to the Desktop
          Double-click the FindAWF icon.

If a Security Alert shows, allow the program to run.
As instructed, press any key to continue.
Use the following option: From the Keyboard Press 1 then Enter to scan for bak folders

The scan may take a while, please be patient.
When done, a text file, Find AWF report is produced.
Please add the Find AWF report in your reply.

and you might want to do the scan in safe mode to help things out.

We were getting to those entries. I wanted more information from these scans first though. I didn't know there was another thread you were working in and as you can see there is more wrong than what is being revealed in the other thread. You have a downloader trojan called Downloader.Agent.awf or Downloader.Agent.ayy. This trojan replaces legitimate files that are common on most computers with an infected file. It then moves the legitimate file to a "bak" or backup folder. This needs to be fixed or the other problems likely won't be completely healed.

This is a multiple step process, we are half way there :)

Double-click the FindAWF icon once again

If a Security Alert shows, allow the program to run.
As instructed, press any key to continue.
Use the following option: From the Keyboard Press 2 then Enter to restore files from bak folders

A text file will open called: files.txt
Copy the text in the Code box below.
Click below the line in files.txt and paste the following list of files to be restored:

            Quote
            "C:\hp\KBD\bak\KBD.EXE"
            "C:\Program Files\Multimedia Card Reader\bak\shwicon2k.exe"
            "C:\WINDOWS\SMINST\bak\RECGUARD.EXE"
            "C:\WINDOWS\system\bak\hpsysdrv.exe"
            "C:\Program Files\HP\{45B6180B-DCAB-4093-8EE8-6164457517F0}\bak\hphupd05.exe"
            "C:\Program Files\SBC Self Support Tool\SmartBridge\bak\MotiveSB.exe"
            "C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\browser\bak\ybrwicon.exe"
            "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\bak\realsched.exe"
            "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sonic\Update Manager\bak\sgtray.exe"
            "C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_03\bin\bak\jusched.exe"

Next, close the text file and click Yes to save the changes.

Once files.txt is saved, FindAWF does the following:

            * It attempts to terminate the process represented by each filename on the list, if running
            * Deletes the rogue file from the parent folder, if present
            * Copies the original file to the parent folder

When done with the above, it automatically runs a new scan and opens a new log.

Please add the new FindAWF log in your reply.

              C:\PROGRA~1\JAVA\J2RE14~1.2_0\BIN\BAK
              • Close the .txt file and click Yes to save the changes.
              • When the tool has completed, a report will open up in notepad.

That was right, the # 3 step did it's job ;D

Double-click FindAWF.exe to start the tool.
                  • Select option #4 - Reset Domain Zones by typing 4 and press Enter
                  • You will be prompted to answer  "Reset the domain zones?"   Type 1 and press Enter.
                  • After completion, then type E and press Enter
Note: if you use SpywareBlaster, Spybot and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and select Enable all protection. For Spybot run the program and select Immunize. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.

                  Download ResetProtocolDefaults to your desktop.

Double click ResetProtocolDefaults.reg and answer Yes to any prompts and allow it to merge into the Registry.

                  ----------

Download SDFix.exe and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:

                  • Restart your computer
                  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
                  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
                  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
                  • Choose your usual account.
                  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
                  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
                  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
                  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
                  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
                  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard).
                  • Finally add the contents of the Report.txt in your next post.
                  .

Let me know how everything is now along with the SDFix log.

                    Everything looks fine.

Let's clear out the programs we've been using to clean up your computer, they are not suitable for
general malware removal and could cause damage if launched accidentally. These steps will also help secure the work you have done.
                    .
                    • Click START then RUN
                    • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox
                    • Make sure there's a space between Combofix and /u
                    • Then hit Enter.
                    .
                    .
                    The above procedure will:
                    • Delete:
                      • ComboFix and its associated files and folders.
                      • VundoFix backups, if present
                      • The C:\Deckard folder, if present
                      • The C:_OtMoveIt folder, if present

Here are some great tools to help you keep from getting infected again. These tools use little or no resources so won't slow down your PC.

To prevent unknown applications from being installed on your computer install WinPatrol 2007

Another thing I would suggest installing SiteAdvisor. SiteAdvisor rates sites on business practices and spam.

UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!! - If you do not have automatic updates enabled then visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer.

Wow, uh...huh. A lot of security stuff was blown into my face, and some things are a little weird for me, Probably need to get used to it

Seeing extensions on every file is fun...I guess

Internet Explorer seems slower...well, my computer seems slower for some reason. Do I really need CCLeaner, Malwarebytes, and Hijack This!? SuperAntiSpyware seems important. And Avast! always lags my comp at some point anyway...

Winpatrol I'll have to get used to as well.

McAfee SiteAdvisor seems nifty. But maybe I'll actually use my Mozilla Firefox if I can use it on it? :P

CCleaner is a very important tool, run it once a day or so to keep things tidy.

You can uninstall Malwarebytes and Hijackthis, and you are right SAS is good to keep. Update it and run it once evry other week or so to make sure things are in order.

WinPatrol will only pop up every now and then. If you are installing something it may pop up asking if it is OK. It's when you aren't installing anything and it goes off you need to worry.

McAfee SiteAdvisor works for Firefox as well, you just need to go to the site and install the add on.

I have never had Avast slow me down, but the alternative is AVG and it is even more bloated that Avast.

You could surely use a Disk Defrag after all of this. That may help with the speed issues as well.

AVG is good if you want the free antivirus protection, the antispyware protection and the siteadvisor similar to mcafee's all in one program.

CCleaner is a good tool. But someone's suggested cleanup.exe which I tried and it does fine too.

                        The computer protection army:
                        1. AVG or Avast
                        2. Microsoft Windows Defender/Winpatrol
3.Comodo Firewall installed (or at least be sure windows firewall is on)
                        4. Spybot or Ad-Aware or A-Squared Free for 2nd opinion.

Okay, so if I WAS to pay money for an Antivirus, what would you recommend?

And by the way, I can't seem to access Avast! through the tray icon. Well, actually...there's no tray icon at all. Help?

And maybe another firewall can be suggested as well? I don't think Windows Firewall can handle it

Okay, thanks! looks like I got a Service Pack 3 Update from Microsoft! But Internet Explorer seems slower now for some reason...

Anyway, maybe I'll actually do my comitted switch onto Firefox now.

Now I just need a MAJOR RAM upgrade =D (Freaking 447 MB of RAM...grr...)

BTW. Think you can fix this issue?:
Back then, I had another user on the computer under the name "Dragon", and then I had to do a System Cleanup by pressing F10 or something on System Startip and stuff...yeah. So I did that, and now I'm just using the Owner. But the Dragon user account still exists. I want to get rid of it, since it seems to be wasting disk space.

Under Disk Management under Administrative Tools you will be able to add, change or delete users.

Gonna need to be more specific on that. I don't even see a Disk Management. A Computer Management though

If you go HERE and read through the thread it has a few different ways of deleting old accounts through the registry.

Be sure to back up your registry before making any changes to it.

Sory to bump again, but I'm having issues again

After reinstalling Avast!, there's more trojans and malware popping up as DLLs
And now I'm on the laptop, because the other computer is really slow. Like it takes 10 minutes just to open up Internet Explorer.

I never could do the things you asked to do from this post:

                                    Well, here it is

A little strange though. The moment I stopped Avast!, the computer was...fine...huh
May have been the fact that I torrented it

There is absolutely no reason to torrent a free product.

This PC is so infected there is little choice but to reformat and start over. I won't help fix over and over what shouldn't be there to start with. Every step I take forward is negated by careless actions.

                                    I'm done.
