Dell Inspiron 8200 Laptop Display Problem
« on: May 29, 2008, 10:21:27 AM »
Hello,  My laptop has a completely dark screen however, I have been using an external monitor which allows me to see everything just fine.  Any suggestions?  Could it be the backlight?

Check for shortcut keys that control the brightness of your screen.  Also try the laptop plugged in and unplugged to check if it's a power management issue.
However, I think your inverter may have gone - this supplies power to the screen.

My friend told me his laptop had this same problem a few days ago. The backlight isn't on and but you can still see stuff on the screen.
We went to my friend in the computer store and he replaced the Screen Inverter. Everything worked fine after that.

And sometimes it's reasonable...and sometimes it's not worth it.
Depends on the model and you can only determine the rest...
