Boot Screens and other Win expansions

I was wandering around the net the other day and I came across desktop themes etc.
I was interested in how one could completely remodel windows with a new task bar etc.

I was wondering if there was any where that is 'safe' to get these files eg. bootscreen from that is both safe to use and has good instruction on how to install.

Also if I were to install some of these files do they alter any other important file eg. kernels?

    Thanks for the help.

    Not without risk.

They modify boot files, system files, registry settings...

I've tried doing what you want to do before, it screwed one of my computers up pretty bad.

So probably not worth the risk then considering I'm not too savvy with this sorta stuff?

Not unless you are prepared to format/reinstall your OS.   I have a pc running various OS's and dedicated to "risky" operations, what you are looking at I would consider to be at the top end of risky.

      Good luck

I didn't reformat windows, I just uninstalled the software and did a repair install.

One more point I should mention is that the computer greatly slows down (most of the time)
