    help please
    « on: June 01, 2008, 02:21:04 PM »
I got a new video card and put it in my computer but, when I turned it on my screen won't turn on.  I put the old one back in but, my screen is still black.  The cable connecting the screen to the computer is kind of old but, has never given me problems before.  Should I just buy a new cable and hope thats the problem or, is something more sinister afoot?

By the way,  I'm running Vista.

Try this monitor on another computer, or working monitor on this computer.

You can still try using another monitor... use the video output soxket on your laptop and connect it to a normal monitor. You may need to use a function+F5 keypress to get the output happening

Did you install a driver for new video card?
Will monitor work OK in Safe Mode?

no i didn't install drivers (I stupidly just turned of the PC and put the card in) and, no it doesn't work in safe mode but, the monitor does work if hooked to the laptop.

Remove video card, and restart without it. Let's see, if on-board video will kick in.

I'm thinking either it's your video card I know it wouldn't be a driver problem but maybe I've installed video cards and turned on the computer you may have gotten a bad card
