plug and play

i am running win xp  but when i plug my digital camera in (olympus c120) nothing pops up to recognize it, where as before a pop up box came up asking wether i want to copy, play, slide show etc  how can i get that pop up to come again

    Ingo.....How long have you been using the camera with that pc ?
    Have you tried .....shutting down the pc , plugging in the camera ( which must be turned on ) then start the pc ....it should now recognize new hardware being installed .

    have tried doing what you say but all i get in the bottom corner is that it tells me to safely remove the device , have used the camera with computer for about  14 months

      Hello how are you? I think you connect your cammera to USB port. So, first of all try to change the port. I mean if you are connecting to first USB port, now connect the other one. Secondly, goto device manager and select "scan for hardware changes" in Action menu. Be sure to select the top most in the category list before selecting "scan forhardware changes".
      Then install the drivers for your camera. Hope this will solve your problem.

      been looking dont have scan for hardware changes in action menu, just got help

        Install the drivers that came with your camera,should be on cd.

        Had same problem.Removed firewall and problem went away.Was using ZoneAlarm but now use windows firewall.

        you need to install drivers from the cd that came with your camera....also make sure in your BIOS that polug and play system is enabled
