    computer only recognizes new ram
    « on: June 01, 2008, 05:27:43 PM »
I have a pretty old pc that has 384mb or ram 3x128mb, i found a 512mb stick i aint using so i decided to replace one of the 128mb ones. But now when i check on my pc it only sees the 512mb instead of the 768mb.

Have you checked that the ram stick you inserted is compatible with your pretty old motherboard.   My calculation shows that half of the 512mb stick is being recognized - sounds like a compatibility problem.

I dont think so, bec. if the memory does not support with the mother, the bios does not or will not detect the memory at all.

In what order did you place the RAM sticks?  Shouldn't matter, but I've seen it make a difference.  Did you try the 512 stick by itself?
