How to revert Vista to windows xp ?

Hi all
i have my Dell desktop i installed a vista copy into it and now trial version is  expired and i wanna revert back to windows xp. unfortunately i did clean installation.
Now how i can format my harddrive into safemode its not letting me do Shrinkpartition either. any other way to format my current harddrive ?

I'm not sure I get this... Do you currently have Vista or XP on the computer?

Currently i have vista installed.. I m stucking at the product activation and i not wanna update so due to that reason i wanna unistall Vista from my desktop.

I can access vista through safemode but into safemode i m not getting format option.
So anyother way to do Format of vista ?

If you have the Windows XP CD with you, all you have to do is Boot FROM the CD and it will run you through the setup of Windows XP (formatting the old Vista partition)

You may have to change the device boot order in your BIOS so that you boot from the CD before you boot from the hard drive.

But that is not working. i alredy have first boot device is cd rom into BIOS. But i dont know its not booting by xp cd. and when i browse that cd into safemode its not gaves me that install option either.

Any other suggestion  plz ?
